CAREER COACHING
Your
job has an enormous impact on your overall happiness...it's difficult to really
love life when you don't enjoy your work.
If you're interested in changing careers or wanting to improve your skills within your
current role, career
coaching is a great option for you. Making the time to talk through
what's important to you, formulate a plan and then being held accountable for your actions make
career coaching a structure that will help you love what you do for a living.
Chances are that you're visiting our site because you feel ready to make some
changes. Maybe you've been talking about changing things for a while now but
you're still just talking. If you know you can do it on your own, take the first
step today and change something (often all it takes is that one first step...).
If you're genuinely stuck, please let us help. Call and make a time for an
introductory session. Kate James is happy to speak with you directly to answer questions you have about whether
coaching is right for you. Contact her directly on 03 9505 0424. She may be with
a client but leave a message and she will return your call within two business days.
'I experienced an altercation at work which left me wanting to bolt out of my
job. Kate listened to me without judgement, validated my thoughts and
perspectives, and helped me set small weekly goals to deal with the issues one
step at a time. Instead of my reactionary bolt, I was able to turn things
around. When I did eventually leave this job for another, it was with no
bitterness about how I had been treated, but with a sense of victory over my own
triumph.'

'Hi Kate,
It's a while now since I've seen you, so I hope you remember me... I came to see
you in the first half of 2005, when I was working at a big corporate law firm
and trying to work out what to do with my life - primarily in a career sense,
but, of course, that led to all sorts of other questions. As you may remember,
with your encouragement I eventually applied for a different role which fit much
better with my personal goals and values.
I have been receiving your newsletters since 2005 and I really enjoy them every
month. I just read the most recent one and it reminded me that I have been
meaning to write to tell you how much I enjoy the newsletters, and to thank you
again for all the help you gave me. I was so ready to change directions, but I
just couldn't find a way to do it without that support. And the conversations
that we had and the resources you gave me - the questions about values and the
books you referred me to - were so helpful then and are still helpful now. I
recently took a year's leave without payand I am working in a volunteer program
in Cambodia for a year, working on women's rights issues at a local Cambodian
human rights NGO. It is really challenging at times, but feels so much more
right - my time doing litigation work at a big city law firm feels like it
happened to a different person! But I really value that experience and the
experience of working with you to decide how to leave and change direction - it
has made me appreciate the choices I have so much more and to realise that
whenever I feel like I'm not where I want to be, I can do something to change
it.' CH, Lawyer, Melbourne

Career & Leadership Coaching
Programs:
Your first session is obligation free. We offer two options - a one
hour telephone session or in-person
session held at either our Elsternwick or city premises. At the completion of
this session, you'll have an idea if we're the right people for you to work
with. Once you decide that you're happy to continue, we ask that you commit to a
minimum of three sessions which can be taken at intervals that suit you.
Most clients find that weekly or fortnightly sessions are best to begin with but
once you have made some changes, you may like to drop back to a monthly session
to keep you on track in the longer term. For more information about the process,
check out our
frequently asked questions page.

'I had decided to see Kate for coaching during a stage when I was
unhappy with the way my life was progressing. I was stuck in a job I
no longer cared for and had lost direction with what I wanted and in
fact liked about myself and my career. I had become anxious and full
of self doubt. By slowly breaking down what I wanted to achieve in
long and short term goals I was able to tackle ( and continue to) each
point. After two months of coaching I have found a job in an area that
has more careers prospects and I am now tackling larger issues of
friendships and relationships. My anxiety dissipated and my self
esteem improved. Kate doesn't provide the answers for you, just the
skills to help you build the blocks to taking control of your life.'
